How to Put More Green in Your Business

Posted On Tuesday, February 21st, 2012 by Midge Iorio

How would you like to save money for your business and do something good for the environment at the same time?

Business owners are starting to realize that conserving energy and reducing waste helps impact bottom line profitability and it’s good for the entire community. That’s why KCC is partnering with Bedford 2020 and the Chambers of Bedford Village, Bedford Hills, & Mt. Kisco to host an evening workshop called “How to Put More Green in Your Business.”

Business owners attending the workshop will hear case studies from other small businesses that have already implemented cost-saving green measures; gain information about rebate programs, free-offers and low-cost financing; and have the opportunity to talk directly with the experts. Attendees will leave the workshop with easy, actionable steps that will result in reduced costs and positively impact the community.

The “Put More Green in Your Business” workshop takes place on Wednesday March 7th, 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Grand Prix New York Racing and Spins Bowl in Mt. Kisco. Along with the workshop, the evening includes networking, cocktails and appetizers.  The first 50 businesses to register for the event receive a $20-gift certificate for Grand Prix New York racing or bowling. To register for the workshop or for more information, email: info@bedford2020.org or visit the website: www.bedford2020.org.

Bedford 2020 Coalition is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to organize, lead and promote a community-wide effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 20% by the year 2020, and to create a sustainable community that conserves its natural resources.

Wrap up Your To-Do List with a Smile

Posted On Monday, December 19th, 2011 by Midge Iorio

With music piping into the streets… beautifully decorated store windows… magical lights… tons of unique gifts.. and great spots to stop for a bite to eat, Katonah is the perfect place to finish up everything on your holiday to-do list with a smile.

Whether you are looking for the perfect present for that person who has everything, or just trying to find something special and different from the typical box store offerings, the independent shops in Katonah are likely to have just what you  need — everything from clothing & accessories to fabulous and fun jewelry to artistic and kitchy gifts to children’s books, gadgets, stocking stuffers, gourmet food,  great wine and much, much more.

In between shopping and strolling, stop in at one of the local cafes for a cup of tea, lunch with a friend or a bit of holiday cheer. The town is particularly festive in the late afternoon and early evening when the lighted trees on Katonah Avenue are shining bright. Several stores are open late this week for holiday shopping.

As the sign says, “come shop, dine and stroll” and enjoy! Happy Holidays!

That same day, NoKa Joe’s and Little Joe’s Books, is offering a unique spin on Black Friday; in fact they are calling the day, NOT a Black Friday, and inviting shoppers tovisit their warm, cozy space where they’ll find, friendly people, no lines, great holiday gifts, free gift wrapping and something free as a thank you — a free small hot beverage for purchases of $25.00 upstairs in Little Joe’s Books.”

On Saturday, November 26th, Santa Comes to Katonah! He’ll be arriving at 11AM (behind Chase Bank) to greet the kids of Katonah, pass out Candy Canes and provide great photo opportunities. After Visiting Santa, everyone is encouraged stay in town for Small Business Saturday, a national day to support small business owners, help fuel the economy, and invigorate the shops in our local communities.

Also, on Saturday, John Jay Arts Alive is hosting Seussical, a musical caper featuring the beloved characters Dr. Seuss. The show is at John jay High School at 2PM.
