Connecting Commerce with Community
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Katonah Poetry Series and National Poetry Month, community members will share their favorite poem at the Katonah Village Library.
The Favorite Poem Project was launched by poet Robert Pinsky in April 1998. He believed that, contrary to stereotype, Americans do read poetry.
Come see how poems can influence, inspire or make you laugh. Hear some of the best poems, read by folks you know: don’t miss Town Supervisor Chris Burdick, Puppeteer Peter Linz, singer-song writer Sloan Wainwright and others!
Free and open to the public, this event will be held under the portico, outside the library. In case of rain, the readings will take place in the Garden Room.
If you are interested in signing up for a time to read a poem, please contact Mary Kane, Director at 914-232-3508. Poems should be family-friendly, published work by an author other than yourself. Poems do not need to be memorized; paper is fine. This is not a slam or contest, just a feel-good event. Celebratory reception to follow. Family-friendly event.
