She has chosen to exhibit the work of regional artists\, in particular\, landscape artists. With the newest exhibit of painter\, Susan Stillman\, Neville has married the art of the landscape and the world of real estate in a unique way. Stillman is best known as the area’s preeminent Home Portrait artist\, commissioned to portray many of Westchester and Connecticut’s finest homes on canvas. The paintings on view represent her personal work\, the result of her passionate exploration of light effects combining both landscape and architectural elements found in her environment. Visiting the show gives the viewer a wonderful opportunity to see art in context\, as opposed to the blank white walls of a gallery. Glimpses of color framed by a doorway entice. Paintings create defined areas of focus and poke illusory windows through solid walls\, expanding the sense of space. Stillman has a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design\, an MFA from Brooklyn College and spent a year in Rome studying painting. She has been a member of the faculty of the Parsons School of Design since 1983. Her work can be viewed on her web site\, SusanStillman.com.
