Join Katonah Village Library's Book Discussion Group! All are welcome! December's book selection is This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This Side of Paradise is the debut novel of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Published in 1920, and taking its title from a line of the Rupert Brooke poem Tiare Tahiti, the book examines the lives and morality of post-World War I youth. Major Jackson is an American poet, professor and the author of four collections of poetry: Roll Deep (2017) Holding Company (2010) and Hoops (2006), both finalists for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literature-Poetry and Leaving Saturn (2002), winner of the 2001 Cave Canem Poetry Prize and finalist for a National Book Critics Award Circle. Alan Shapiro has published over ten books of poetry, most recently Life Pig (2016); Reel to Reel (2014), a finalist for the Pulizer Prize; Night of the Republic (2012), a finalist for the National Book Award and the Griffin Prize; and Old War (2008), winner of the Ambassador Book Award. A memoirist, essayist, translator, and novelist, as well as a poet, Shapiro has also authored the memoirs Vigil (University of Chicago Press, 1997) and The Last Happy Occasion (University of Chicago Press, 1996).
