Founded in 1924, Charles Department Store is a family owned and operated independent specialty store located in the heart of downtown Katonah Avenue. Current third generation owners Jim and Dave Raneri continue the tradition of providing hand-selected, high quality merchandise coupled with excellent personal service. With original tin ceilings and creaky wooden floors, Charles takes shoppers back to a time when retailers existed within a community and built their business one satisfied customer at a time.

You will also find a full service shoe department which outfits men, women, and kids with a stylish yet functional selection featuring Merrell, Dansko, Birkenstock, Brooks, Sorel, UGG, Hunter, Sperry, Ecco, New Balance and more!
Charles Upstairs showcases a diverse selection of men’s and women’s apparel, outerwear and accessories as well as luggage and blankets. From basics to one-of-a-kind pieces, our clothing department has it all – featuring Barbour, Woolrich, Pendleton, Filson, Patagonia, True Grit/Dylan, Toad & Co, Nomadic Traders, Royal Robbins, Alex Cannon, NYDJ, Canada Goose, J Wingfield and much more. In the summertime, you will be surprised to see the outerwear section transition into our grill department where you will find Weber grills and Big Green Egg smokers.
